The Savannah Planter is a 3 pt. mounted machine, designed specifically
for fully cultivated, second-rotation planting sites, where the robust construction allows
it to operate over the tops of stumps and through areas of medium logging residues.
It will operate on flat cultivated sites or on prepared beds, where the loosened, friable

It is very safe to use, as the operator
is well away from ground-engaging parts and risks of injury from flying debris is
minimized. It has a fast planting rate of over 1000 seedlings per hour and as the
operator's actions are reduced to just placing a seedling on a spring-loaded tray, it's
use causes very little operator fatigue.
The machine operates on a semi-automatic
principle; the planting hand moves to pick up a bare-rooted, or tubestock seedling, from
the spring-loaded tray and places it into the slot in the ground created by the unique
'swept-entry' knife opener. The seedling is then compacted firmly by the
spring-tensioned pneumatic press-wheels. Tree spacing adjustment is from 5ft to 10ft
(1.5m - 3.0m) and is obtained by means of a variable-speed pulley in the drive mechanism.

Horsepower required; the machine operates best with a 4WD
front-wheel-assist tractor in the 90-100hp range. When fully loaded with
seedlings and fertilizer, care should be taken when turning on sloping land. Model 830 first-rotation planter: -
This is a new, low-cost tree planter for use in farm tree planting projects, or
first-rotation establishment. It has a large coulter to assist in cutting through
thick plant material without choking or stopping. It has a single press-wheel to
compact the soil back around the roots of the seedling. This single press-wheel
allows the operator to sit much closer to the working position and makes it comfortable to
place seedlings in the slot at a rapid rate. An adjustable, audible timing device is
fitted to assist operators to produce even tree spacings independent of tractor speed.

The machine is fitted with a shade
canopy, comfortable high-back seat, twin seedling trays, operator padding and has a
thick plastic replaceable wear plate fitted underneath for abrasive soils. It is
designed for simplicity, efficiency and low-cost planting performance under all
first-rotation conditions; providing there is some form of prior cultivation applied to
the site. There is no granular fertilizer applicator available for this model.
Model 832 TwinRow Planter:
- Based on the 830 design, this is a low-cost first-rotation planter designed to plant two
3m rows into cultivated land or prepared beds. It has much greater seedling storage
capacity than the the single row Model 830.
