When John Deere selected Yanmar to manufacture their compact tractors in the 1980's; they did so for a reason.... Yanmar knows how to build a tractor. These tractors are not cheap "homeowner" tractors like the tractors you might find at a home improvement store . These are agricultural tractors that are designed and built to work for a living.

These Yanmar heavy duty front gearboxes (on 4wd models) use a unique pinion gear design instead of a typical u-joint to allow much sharper turns and make this tractor one of the most maneuverable on the market.. The gearboxes are easily serviced by checking a dipstick on the axle.

The engine is a powerful and reliable 3 cylinder, water cooled, Yanmar diesel producing 25 horsepower. This is the same Yanmar diesel that has a long and trusted history in t he marine engine market. FYI- Yanmar was founded in 1912 and built their first diesel engine in 1930. They built the worlds first small horizontal diesel engine in 1933.

The Yanmar 226 series compact tractor has the powershift transmission. This is not a hydrostat! This is a mechanical transmission that offers solid, no slip shifting. Even under a heavy load! This transmission allows you to shift between reverse, neural, and 3 forward gears without touching the clutch. You also get three additional range gears plus an additional high/low range- so there is always a perfect gear for any job.

The differential lock pedal allows you to easily lock both wheels together when additional traction is required. When disengaged, it allows you to make tighter turns without tearing up your turf.

The Yanmar 226 series tractor has all of the necessary warning lights as well as a fuel level and temperature gauge to alert you of any potential problems. It also has a mechanical tachometer and hourmeter. The intake heater makes starting in cold weather easy. The powerful headlights and turn signals are great for those jobs that seem to take a little longer than expected.

These tractors also have a 4speed pto which will allow you to adjust your pto speed to match your conditions as well as a standard 3 point that will hook up to almost any standard compact tractor implement..

Like all of our tractors the 226 goes through our rigorous inspection and testing process.

1 - All of the fluids are drained and inspected for possible problems (water in oil, metal in oil, oil in water, rusty coolant, etc)

2 - Belts and hoses are checked and replaced if necessary.

3 - The batteries are replaced with new ones. 4 - All new fluids are added and new filters are installed.

5 - The tractor is then run through a series of tests to detect any other possible problems (overheating, charging problems, steering, brakes, lights, etc).

6 -Any problems are repaired.

7 - The tractor is then sanded down smooth, taped off and painted with high quality industrial acrylic paint.

8 - We then reassemble the tractor looking for any other possible problems and test it one more time. Finally we apply our new English decals and the tractor is ready to go.
